MEET YOUR CAPTAIN
Mike Firari
Hi. My name is Mike.
When you’re going adventuring, it’s important to know who’s guiding you along the way.
I moved to Alaska from small town Wisconsin in 2001, and really, I never looked back. I realized the limitless opportunities for adventure and stayed. The thing about nature is that it’s equal parts art and science, and I’ve done my fair share of learning the science:
-
Graduate of National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS), an outdoor education school that teaches technical outdoor skills, wilderness medicine and environmental ethics.
-
Logged several days kayaking in Prince William Sound, hiking the Talkeetna Mountains and mountaineering glaciers.
-
Sailed from Ketchikan to San Francisco, and have participated in many races – most recently the Race to Alaska, a 750-mile course from Port Townsend, WA up the coast to Ketchikan.
-
Licensed captain and First Aid certified.
As for the art, that one is up to you. But if you want to immerse yourself in Alaska’s wilderness by sea or by land, I’m happy to show you the way.
